How about a Learn-To-Row camp with Pacific Rowing Club at Lake Merced this summer? This program is open to all students both girls and boys -- 8th grade through high school. Come and try the sport of rowing in a fun and informative camp designed for beginners. Each camp runs for 2 weeks, Monday-Friday, from 8 am to 12 noon, and includes land training, video review, nutrition, and rowing in both small and large racing shells. No experience necessary! Great opportunity to try this competitive sport; and if you like it, then join the team for the school year! Colleges love to recruit rowers!
The San Franciscos only synchronized swim club is open to children aged 6 through 14. Those new to synchronized swimming can join the pre-competitive program, which swims twice a week at city pools. SURF (my view) the six hottest spots between San Francisco and Half Moon Bay! Fort Point - Under the GG Bridge...not a beginners spot, watch from above and take notes! Ocean Beach - Drive through GGP to the beach. Not a begnners spot unless it is a mellow day... ocean beach has a lot of movement, a lot of rip and currents... be careful. When it looks small it is still very powerful! The picture above is from Ocean Beach. Before going out, watch what the ocean is doing. Linda Mar - at Pacifica State Beach (Taco Bell?). A great beginners spot, be careful of others, everyone is out having a good time. Respect each other and be nice. Watch what the waves are doing before going out, surprises happen every so often.
